Since starting a low carb eating plan in the March of 2013, I have lost about 70 pounds, increased my athletic ability, felt a whole lot better and have enjoyed some really good food along the way. I have enjoyed success day in and day out by provisioning for food emergencies (i.e., weeknights), as well as meal planning for the week.
Hangry Town is all about sharing what has worked for me, laughing about what hasn’t, and encouraging you to try what appeals to you. I knew about the benefits of cutting carbs for about a year before I started. What got me started was realizing I needed to change. At my heaviest, my 5′ 7″ frame was weighing in about 15 pounds shy of 300 pounds. Something had to give.
Thanks to a friend and coworker at the time, I was able to ask questions, understand how carbohydrates are metabolized, and build my recipe repertoire. Going low carb is a personal decision, for which there is a rich community. Through Hangry Town, I am happy to share my knowledge and encourage you on your own journey, be it for weight loss, minimizing pre-diabetes risk, or just trying to feel better through food.
Seattle is my hometown, where you’ll find me sipping Americanos, cheering on the Seahawks, or planning a trip to the mountains or the coast. We really do have it all in the lovely Pacific Northwest. I have lived elsewhere for a few years, and now that I’m back in Seattle, I wouldn’t leave it for the world.
